April 7-13 is National Volunteer Week, celebrating the impact of volunteer service throughout the many avenues of a community.
It is a time we’d like to sincerely thank a group of incredible individuals who freely give back to the community and make Carson Valley Medical Center a better place for everyone who comes through our doors.
At Carson Valley Medical Center, we are blessed with an incredible team of volunteers in the CVMC Auxiliary, which supports a variety of needs throughout the organization.
Our volunteers help with an array of important projects throughout the year, facilitate a number our support groups, assist in our departments, provide spiritual support and pet therapy for our patients and include the friendly faces that greet you and help you at the front desk when you first walk through the main entrance of the hospital campus south of Gardnerville.
Nominations are currently open for the Claire Bauer Heart of a Volunteer Award. Nominations for the award may be submitted by paper or electronically. The award’s namesake — Claire Bauer — passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 in February of 2016. She had been a long-time volunteer at CVMC, as well as within Douglas County School District. Her family wanted to carry on their mother’s legacy by recognizing others who, like Claire, have a kind, compassionate and giving heart — always willing to lend a hand. The award will be given in May during Carson Valley Medical Center’s Employee & Volunteer appreciation week. Milestone years of service with CVMC will also be recognized.
