Carson Valley Medical Center Clinics Win Silver Syringe Award

Carson Valley Medical Center’s primary care clinics recently won the Northern Nevada award for Outstanding Adult Immunization Program, which was presented at Immunize Nevada’s Silver Syringe Awards Banquet in Reno.
Over the past year, the CVMC’s embarked on an outreach effort to increase pneumonia vaccinations.
Carson Valley is home to a large population of adults over the age of 65. Keeping in line with our mission to care for the health and wellness of the community, we believe strengthening community immunity is an integral element in establishing that foundation. We believe providing our community with access to immunizations and taking a preventative healthcare approach contributes strongly toward improving the overall health of the community.

Additionally, CVMC’s employee immunization rate of more than 90 percent for seasonal influenza earned the organization a Healthy People 2020 Silver Award from Immunize Nevada.

 

Locally, Karen Beckerbauer, MS of Douglas County Social Services, won an Silver Syringe Award for Outstanding Rural Immunization Program.

Silver Syringe began in 1998 to celebrate Nevada’s immunization successes and champions.

Today, the event has become a statewide tradition for Nevada’s immunization and healthcare partners. This year’s event is generously supported by: AVMS, Anthem, Boyd Gaming, Carson Medical Group, Carson Tahoe Health, Community Health Alliance, The Eyecare Center, Health Plan of Nevada, Hometown Health, Nevada Health Link, Nevada State Immunization Program, PhRMA, Renown Health, St. Mary’s Health Network, Silver Sage Center for Family Medicine, SilverSummit Healthplan, UnitedHealthcare, Washoe County Health District.
