Carson Valley Medical Center hosted its second Great Outdoors Health Fair over the weekend.
This year, CVMC performed more than 300 flu shots and health screenings during the course of the fair.
Care Flight, East Fork Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were on scene with their big equipment, Douglas County CERT conducted CPR training, Partnership Douglas County had a Prescription Drug Roundup booth set up and a number of community partners were on hand with great information and fun giveaways.
We’re already beginning to plan for next year — mark your calendars — Oct. 17 2020.
If you missed this year’s health fair, it’s still the time of year to be thinking about getting your annual flu shot.
Vaccination is still the best protection against the flu and your individual flu shot serves as your contribution to community wellness. It will help protect the elderly and all babies under 6 months old who are too young to be vaccinated, as well as the vulnerable in our community with cancer, respiratory illnesses, and weakened or compromised immune systems. Your efforts help build Community Immunity.
You can receive your flu vaccine from your primary care provider. If you are not currently established with a primary care provider, you can call the CVMC Find-A-Doc hotline at 775-782-1545 or fill out our simple online form at www.cvmchospital.org/doc
